Drumroll please...

As another school year draws to a close, we are thrilled to announce the Marketing Lab Leadership for 2022-2023! Led by our new president, Seth Hatch, the Marketing Lab will continue to learn, grow, and deliver top-notch, quality work for its clients.

Our new VP of project management, Lina Bishop, will help oversee client projects, staffing, and deliverables. David Monson, our VP of Business Development, will help the Lab land new projects with exciting brands. Our “operations” team has been renamed the “culture” team and will be led by Preston Haight. Our VP of Brand Marketing, Jordan Wright, will help oversee marketing the Lab itself, and our VP of Digital Marketing, Jaden Snarr, will lead the Lab’s first ever Digital Marketing team, a brand-new service that will be available to clients in the coming months. Thomas Metcalf will serve as our VP of Analytics, helping lab projects and members find meaning and validity in data.

We look forward to these changes in the Lab’s organization and leadership and can’t wait to see how the Marketing Lab continues to grow and improve in the coming year.

President Seth Hatch has outlined three goals he has for next year’s team:

1. Benchmarking: Focusing efforts on continually improving Marketing Lab by communicating with former clients/lab members and identifying strengths, as well as areas for improvement.

2. Leadership Skills: Allowing students to learn and grow through projects with clients while emphasizing three key attributes:

  • Negotiation: It's not about always being right

  • Service Oriented: Leaders both inside the Lab and out

  • Listening: "Seek first to understand, then to be understood" Stephen Covey

3. Culture: We only have Marketing Lab if we have students who want to apply. Make working in the Lab the best experience possible by developing lifelong friendships with the cohort through project work, activities, and service.

With these exciting initiatives ahead, let’s introduce the 2022-2023 Marketing Lab leadership team!

President: Seth Hatch

With a background in Industrial Design, Seth previously worked for Purple Mattresses on their Innovation team. In his free time, he loves playing music (primarily the electric guitar) and plays with a few bands in addition to writing and performing his own music. Seth also enjoys trying new restaurants, watching movies, and spending time with his Portuguese water dog, Henrietta.

Most Relatable Sea Creature: “Sea Turtle. I have often been told that if I had a spirit animal, it would be a sea turtle. They're easy-going and open to change.”

VP of Project Management: Lina Bishop

Lina is a Seattle native who loves the West Coast! She attended the University of Washington for 3 years before she transferred to BYU, where she learned to love everything marketing and strategy. When she has free time she loves to paint, watch films, and help out with her husband’s business. Lina is interning with Home Depot as a Merchandising Intern, and she’s excited to help take the Lab to new heights!

Most Relatable Sea Creature: “Otters because they like holding hands and I like to think that I am very affectionate as well.”

VP of Business Development: David Monson

David is from the small state of Rhode Island. He graduated from BYU receiving his BS in Economics. David then went on to work with a dermatology firm in Arizona as a business analyst before pursing his MBA. David has gone by the nickname of “Game Dave” for the past several years. This is due to the fact he loves to play board/party games and hang out with friends and family in the process. David is a die-hard Utah Jazz fan, much to his chagrin. You’ll often find David watching a good movie or binge-watching a tv show with his wife. His favorite movie is Inception and favorite tv show of all time is Breaking Bad. David is interning as a merchant this summer at Lowe’s (the best hardware store on the planet) and he is excited to bring in lots of new clients for the marketing lab.

Most Relatable Sea Creature: “Walrus. I would love to just lay on a rock all day, basking in the sun.”

VP of Brand Marketing: Jordan Wright

Jordan is from Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Something surprising about her is that she and her husband are both twins. Her main goals in life are to do a backflip on a pogo stick, be as cool as Cosmo the cougar, and bring rednecks back to management (oh, and it could be cool to run an airline).

Most Relatable Sea Creature: “I would be Shabby the Sea Lion just because they talk about him in Psych and I love that show.”

VP of Digital Marketing: Jaden Snarr

Jaden is obsessed with all things digital marketing. In her free time, you can find her baking or listening to an episode of Crime Junkies. She also loves to travel and hopes to one day travel all over the world. If you ever need homemade chocolate chip cookies, Jaden is your girl!

Most Relatable Sea Creature: “Dolphin - I took a Buzzfeed quiz and that was the answer! I also resonate with the fun-loving nature and loyalty of dolphins.”

VP of Culture: Preston Haight

Preston is originally from Southern California and is the new VP of Culture (previously Operations). He enjoys doing anything outdoors, whether it’s a heated game of spikeball or beating Matt Madden at pickleball. Another fun fact about Preston is he just recently got married last year!

Most Relatable Sea Creature: “Mystery, the sea horse from SpongeBob. No explanation.”

VP of Analytics: Thomas Metcalf

Thomas spent the last five years in international marketing management at Melaleuca before coming back to BYU for an MBA. He loves being a girl dad and spends his spare time playing ultimate frisbee, winning at foosball, or cheering on his favorite Houston sports teams. Thomas will be interning with Target this summer after spending a month in Asia with the BYU study abroad program.

Most Relatable Sea Creature. “Otter. It's my Pottermore Patronus.”

As we pass the baton to the rising class of the Marketing Lab, we wish you all the best and feel grateful to have such great, talented people to carry on the legacy. Here’s to the Lab’s best year yet!
